Tips for Teachers

Student Supervision

We recommend, as per school board requirements, one chaperone per 7 students for grades Primary to 6, but will allow one chaperone per 7 students. For Grades 7 to 12 we will allow one chaperone per 10 students. These chaperones will be admitted free of charge. Groups will be charged the school group adult rate for each extra chaperone - $6.00 (includes applicable taxes).

All exhibit visits are self guided tours. There are exhibit interpreters who are on the floor to help answer questions and make sure your visit runs smoothly.

Payment

Payment may be made by certified cheque, school cheque, cash, credit card or debit card. Make cheques payable to Discovery Centre and bring full payment on the day of your visit. No deposit is required. A $50 fee will apply to workshops cancelled with less than two weeks notice.

**Membership passes cannot be used for school or group visits.

Rates

The school group rate applies to groups of ten (10) students or more, booked at least 24 hours in advance.

Planning your Visit

Teachers may preview the Centre at any time and at no cost by presenting a valid Nova Scotia Teachers License at the front desk.
